Towering over the island of Maui 10,023 feet above sea level, Haleakala is a force of nature. Filled with trepidation and excitement, I arose at 2am to begin the 1 1/2 hour-long journey in the dark to catch sunrise, fulfilling a long-held wish on my bucket list. Magical in every sense of the word, the"house of the sun" did not disappoint.
